About OpenForm Design

A guide and an advocate — not a vendor who disappears after the drawings

OpenForm Design is a residential design studio serving Marin and Sonoma Counties. We exist to close the gap between what you imagine, what appears on paper, and what ultimately gets built — by listening carefully, explaining the process in plain language, and staying engaged from first sketch through construction.

Beliefs

What does OpenForm Design believe about residential design?

A home is one of the biggest investments and most personal decisions a family makes. You should be able to look at the finished space and recognize your own vision in it — not feel like you're living in someone else's idea of what your home should be. A great space isn't built from a cookie-cutter template; it's custom-designed around how you actually live, move, and feel inside your home.

How we work

How does OpenForm Design work with clients?

Confidence with humility. We're knowledgeable without talking down to anyone, professional without being cold, and transparent about both the possibilities and the challenges of a project. We won't promise a "perfect" or stress-free construction experience, because that wouldn't be honest — renovation involves decision fatigue, budget pressure, and occasional surprises. What we promise instead: you'll understand your options, you'll hear the truth (including "let me investigate that" when we don't have an immediate answer), and you'll have someone beside you protecting the original intention behind your project.

Lyndon Raguro

Co-Founder & Lead Designer · Residential Designer

Most plans fail in the gaps between the designer, the engineers and the builder. Lyndon has spent 20+ years in San Francisco working in all three: at leading architecture and engineering firms, and on the contractor side.

After two decades of making other people's buildings work, he founded OpenForm Design with his wife and co-founder, Angela Raguro, to do the part he loves most: designing homes. He pairs a creative eye for layout, light and flow with the technical depth to make it real. That means plans coordinated before they reach the permit counter and buildable once they reach the site.

Today he designs renovations, additions and ADUs across Marin and Sonoma.

Co-Founder

Angela co-founded OpenForm Design with her husband, Lyndon, bringing a background in real estate and education. Her experience shapes her interest in how homes can support both everyday living and long-term value.

While continuing her work as a teacher, Angela supports the firm and works alongside Lyndon to develop their shared vision. As OpenForm Design grows, she looks forward to expanding her role in helping serve homeowners, families, and investors throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties.

Trust

Why trust a new studio?

Fair question. We build trust the way we run projects: through transparency. That means explaining exactly what's included in a scope and fee before you commit, standing behind the accuracy of our drafting with a correction guarantee, and being candid about what we know and what needs further investigation. As our portfolio of completed Marin and Sonoma projects grows, you'll see it documented here — real projects, real decisions, real numbers.
